In September 1927, the Shchepkin City Theatre ceased to exist. The playbill of the old theatre house read: «1st Sovkino» (the First Soviet cinema).
The administration of the Kursk province decided to create a showcase provincial theatre, and its cast was moved to another place - to the so-called House of Ilyich in Yamskaya Gora St. (now Perekalsky St., 1).
The theatre received its official name as the Kursk City Theatre. The name of Mikhail Shchepkin was removed from the theatre playbill without any explanation.
On November 6, 1927, a new theatrical season opened there by the play «Lyubov Yarovaya» by Konstantin Trenyov. It was directed by Vasily Chirkin.
